Bonnievale Wines launches The River Collection (Premium Range)

For those who like to relax and enjoy a glass of wine, Bonnievale Wines‘ brand new Premium Range, The River Collection, is perfect for any occasion and can be enjoyed all year round.

Offering proudly selected and carefully nurtured wines that showcase the best of Bonnievale and what it has to offer, The River Collection consists of four brand new wines that will be filtering out to stores near you very soon!

This new collection is one of the first steps taken in an exciting transformation underway at Bonnievale Wines, and “represents an important step in communicating the high quality and authenticity inherent in Bonnievale Wines,” says wine industry specialist Carina Gous, who is also Bonnievale’s new strategic brand advisor.

In addition to their brand new range, Bonnievale Wines has a beautiful new crest. The crest was created by Bravo, Grand Prix winner of this year’s Winemag wine label design championship, and reflects the blend of its heritage with the unique location of its wines.

The new crest includes ‘the cellar gable which speaks of history; the three-arched bridge, which speaks of collaboration and teamwork, the original wineries; the blue diamonds bordered by triangles, the river and vineyards; and, the ribbon, of unity’.

We had the opportunity to feast our eyes on the beautiful new label, as well as try all four of the tasty new additions at Bonnievale’s Wine Estate, surrounded by wine connoisseurs, media, VIP guests and Bonnievale staff, themselves.

Here they are! The four new @bonnievalewines from #bonnievaletherivercollection. Offering proudly selected and carefully nurtured wines that showcase the best of Bonnievale and what it has to offer. Here’s a bit about each one: • Cinsault rose – best paired with seafood and crisp garden salads. Dry and crispy, good for drinking on a hot summer day. • Sauv blanc – distinct tropical fruit flavours and is very well balanced. There for confident enjoyment. • Chenin blanc – crisp, bright and floral. Pairs perfectly with chicken, fish or pork. • Chardonnay – citrus fruits and more on the tropical side of Chardonnay. Full bodied and drinks really well. ** R57 per bottle (yes, you read that right). They will start filtering out to the liquor stores soon! 🍷 • • • • • #vino #wine #visitBonnievale #BonnievaleWines #rose #sauvignonblanc #chardonnay #cheninblanc #whitewine #southafrica #localislekker #proudlysouthafrican #madeinsouthafrica #sablogger #winetasting #winefarm #winewednesday #winery #winetime @southafrica #westerncape #winelands #capewinelands #cape

We were taken through each of the new wines, paying fine attention to the tasting notes, pairings and the finer details.

Below you can find a little more about each of the wines:

The River Collection Sauvignon Blanc 2018 is medium-bodied, fresh and crisp with a slight flinty undertone. Tropical notes with a hint of herbs show on the nose and reflect on the palate too. It is an ideal partner to seafood and sushi.

The River Collection Chardonnay 2018 is a rounded, delicate wine with subtle aromas of oak, citrus and peach. On the palate are tones of dried fruit. It can be enjoyed on its own or with hearty curries, creamy pasta and salads.

The River Collection Chenin Blanc 2018 is a classic example of the variety. It’s crisp and bright with floral and fruity aromas that are pleasantly amplified on the palate. It is satisfying when savoured by itself or served with full-flavoured white meat dishes.

The River Collection Cinsault Rosé 2018 is made in the crisp, dry style of Southern France. The result is a light, aromatic and refreshing wine that pairs exceptionally well with seafood and crisp garden salads.

My face wine was the Sauvignon Blanc 2018. It was everything I look for in a white wine and so much more. It’s fresh, crisp and easy-to-drink, making it the perfect vino to enjoy any day of the week and for any occasion. I can see myself cracking open a bottle any time of the year, with no special occasion needed.

Coming in second is the Cinsault Rosé 2018. I thoroughly enjoyed every single sip of this flirty Rosé, and it left me feeling moreish as I came to the end of my first glass. What I loved most about this Rosé is that it speaks to you through its delightful scent before you’ve even had a chance to take a sip. It smells heavenly, and it’s a wine I can see myself enjoying all summer long.

The River Collection wines are priced at R57 per bottle, and they can be found at leading retailers countrywide, including Tops @ Spar and Food Lover’s Market.

Gimme, gimme more!

Bonnievale Wines will be launching another range that will be coming out in a couple of months time. The range will be made up of four wines and will be called ‘The nature range’. This range, however, will be less formal and will be named after moments found in nature. They will include: Dawn, dust, mist and night. There will be more up about this new range, soon!

Note: This is part one of my Bonnievale series! Next up you will hear all about our afternoon at Weltevrede Wines and how gorgeous our accommodation, Boesmansdrift Farmhouse, was too!
