This year is Jenam’s 10th birthday and, to celebrate, they gave me and a few other bloggers the opportunity to choose an item from their website.
If you don’t know what Jenam is, it’s a local gifting store selling a number of amazing bath and body products as well as accessories and other gifts. You will find everything from creams to bath products, eye masks to handbags, wallets and umbrellas.
I chose to receive their cute and quirky Summer Range – Chillaxing Eye Mask which retails for R39.99 and comes in three gorgeous prints – orange, watermelon and kiwi. I am not going to lie, it was so hard to choose something, as Jenam has so many amazing products.
Once ordered, a gorgeous silver and white polka dot box tied with ribbon and a handwritten card arrived on my doorstep a couple of days later, and I could not wait to rip into it – nicely, of course.
It took so much control not to throw the lid off the box and unpack it all. But I knew I had to take a couple of snaps, so I had to do it nicely.
Inside, the polka dots continued in the form of soft and crinkly tissue paper – this awoke the kitten and she then had to come and investigate, obvs. Here’s a little pic of the ginge having a snoop (I think she was disappointed that it wasn’t for her, although she did steal the ribbon for herself):
Okay, once I got into the box, I found three eye masks – one in each print – a surprise I did not expect so thank you, Jenam. Each of the eye masks stood out as they are so freaking cute and the colours are so bright.
Immediately I was drawn to the kiwi printed one and knew my sister would love it – so I am gifting it to her. The one I chose for myself to try out was the watermelon one, as I think it was the one that suited me the most.
So, according to the back of the packaging, the Chillaxing Eye Masks are suppose to help with dark circles under the eyes – which is the main reason why I chose this product – as well as headaches (which I suffer from too often).
Once opened, I inspected the product giving it a good eye over. I found that it was really well made and the elastic that goes around your head can be taken off and replaced – which I love – if it stretches or breaks. The parts that go over your eyes are nicely sized, the plastic containing the liquid is thick but soft and overall it was not super heavy. Then it was time to pop it in the fridge and give it a go.
I have been using the Chillaxing Eye Mask for a coupled of weeks now and, after two weeks, I decided I could finally give you a fair review of the product as I think I needed to give it a fair chance in order for the product work and show any improvements.
So there is a need to place the eye mask in the fridge for an hour before use. I did this when I got home from work each night while I was cooking dinner and tidying up. Then, once I had showered, eaten and gotten into bed I would use the mask for the recommended 10-minutes while relaxing – it turned into one of my favourite parts of my day.
While lying in bed with the eye mask on I could literally feel my skin tightening underneath the mask. It was so cold and comfortable, especially since the temperature has been heating up recently.
Within a week, I had started to see small changes. Although the bags under my eyes still looked dark, the puffiness had lessened significantly, so I was really excited to see some results so early on.
Two weeks on, the puffiness has continued to go down, but the darkness is still there. Which, I can live with and is not the end of the world. I am just glad that my eyes look a lot less puffy than they did two weeks ago.
The only issue I had with the eye mask – which is not really a big deal – was that I found it warmed up quicker while using it during the hot days – which would obviously happen because my body would be warmer.
To combat this change and to still get in my ten minutes, I have been doing five minutes when I get home from work and then another five minutes once I get into bed.
Overall, I love the Chillaxing Eye Mask and I am going to continue to use it. Additionally, by simply bragging about how much I love this product to my sister, she cannot wait to get her hands on her kiwis.
This is definitely a product I would recommend, so I would get your hands on one quick sticks!
