Tessa’s Bakery launch

Did someone say cake? I am there like a bear!  Tessa’s bakery has moved, and I was invited to the launch of their new venue in Milnerton to check out their new premises and indulge in a sweet snack or two. Oh, who am I kidding, I tried them all!

Unfortunately for my sweet tooth, I could only pop by after work, meaning I had minimal time to get through all the treats but I certainly tried my best!

The new venue, although it looks like a plain Jane from the outside, is quirky, fun and delightful. When I walked in the first things I noticed was the ‘frosting’ décor hanging from the ceiling above the goodie bar, the beautifully bright colours that adorned the walls and the sample cakes that were sitting on a shelf. How cute is that bunny? (My birthday is in October by the way. And I like chocolate cake).

The space is light and airy, with plenty of space to have a walk around and see what you want to order, and there are little booths and tables and chairs where you can sit down and enjoy your sweet treats.

There is also a little coffee station selling Origin coffee, hot chocolate and cool drinks – all of which go well with a cake or sweet treat – and next to it there is a little coffee room where you can take a seat and tuck into your nibbles and sip on your drink.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. This incredible bakery sells more than just sweet treats, there is also a stand on the far side of the bakery displaying all sorts of party accessories.

From quirky plates to cake toppers and balloons, you have the option to purchase the rest of your occasion’s goodies while you’re there. I thought this was such a good idea as it is super convenient and means you don’t need to go to another shop or two to find what you’re looking for.

I like this little touch. Mainly because it’s so hard to find great quality and super cute accessories to go with your cake and snacks for an event, party or gathering. And, even if you do find cute plates, there is then the dilemma of not finding matching napkins and so-on. Tessa’s accessory station makes this process easier and much less stressful.

Cake.

Okay, now on to the tasty stuff. So while I was at Tessa’s I tried a few of the goodies that were on display. There were mini cupcakes and chocolate rocky road and a number of other amazing treats.

Each cake was moist and baked perfectly and the rocky road styled slices were amazing. Each of them were jam-packed with marshmallows and other goodies and there were no – wait for it – raisins. Yay!

I was really impressed with the standard of baking and how delicious each and every treat was. And of course, the coffee from the coffee station was a bonus. It was strong, paired perfect with all sweet goodies and warmed me up on the overcast, miserable day that it was.

I thought that was the end of our sweet journey, but I was wrong. We each got an amazing goodie box to take home with 6 different flavoured cupcakes in them!

It literally took me a week to get through the box, but every single flavour and mouthful was delicious and they lasted a whole week without going hard or soggy. Super impressed.

What’s more, these cupcakes sell for R25, and I feel that you get a lot of cupcake for that price. They are also topped to the extreme with luxury sweets, chocolate and icing, making each of them unique and even more scrumptious and exciting.

Note: I have to say that the red velvet cheesecake cupcake was my absolute favourite. What an interesting combination that works so well. Absolutely in love with the combo and have asked Jeanne to get me a couple for my birthday! Wow, I cannot rave enough about them.

For a bakery that started 25 years ago in Tessa’s kitchen to a 20-employee strong team that produces nothing but the most indulgent, delicious and quality cakes and other treats, Tessa’s Bakery has blown my mind, and has made me a firm-fave when it comes to cake in just one hour of being there.

So whether you are looking for a wedding cake, anniversary treats, or simply some goodies to take home with you and indulge in over the weekend, Tessa’s Bakery will go the extra mile to create exactly what you want.

From drip cakes to chocolate caramel cake, red velvet cake, carrot cake, cheesecake and peppermint crisp tarts, each and every one of them are mouth-watering masterpieces that are made daily from nothing but the finest and freshest ingredients.

I’m going to stop now. However, the last little thing I am going to say is that for your next occasion, call Tessa’s Bakery. Really, you won’t regret it. Their cakes are amazing, so tasty and worth every cent. Do it!

Take a look at what they have to offer, here.

I cannot agree more about Tessa’s and especially that Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcake: I love them so much that I had a tower of them as my wedding cake!!! To this day people still talk about them and my poor sister (who lives in Gauteng) misplaced her wedding cupcake and shame, she still mopes!!
